Berkhamsted Leisure Centre in Hemel Hempstead, which we operate in partnership with Everyone Active, will be inspiring the community to take part in a 24-hour activity challenge to help raise funds for schools that...

were affected by the Grenfell Tower disaster. The money raised will provide schools with opportunities to have fun with sport and be more active.

As part of the initiative, Everyone Active will be running 24-hour activity challenges at all of its centres in the South East for members, guests and colleagues.

Participants will be encouraged to raise money for schools affected by the Grenfell disaster, a cause which is close to Everyone Active’s heart as its Westway Sports and Fitness Centre acted as one of the main support centres for families during the disaster. The centre was closed for six weeks and provided those affected with shelter, food, clothing and advice.

On 9 October at 12pm, the team at Berkhamsted Leisure Centre will be running a wattbike-athon to raise vital funds for the schools.

“Ensuring we can continue to support those affected by the Grenfell Tower disaster is a cause very close to our hearts here at Everyone Active,” says James Tovey, Everyone Active General Manager.

“Sport has an incredible ability to bring people to together and can play a huge role in the healing process. We are going to do everything we can to raise as much money as possible for local schools that were affected by Grenfell and help provide them with new opportunities to take part in physical activity and sport. We hope to see as many members of our community as possible come together and get active to help raise money for an important cause.”

Following a month of fundraising Everyone Active will also be providing sports and activity bursaries and opportunities for schools who have been affected by the events of 14 June 2017.
