NOTICE: SSL Secure Certificate

In the next 3-5 days, The Caretakers Website will be switching to a secure encrypted SSL certificate meaning the site address will switch to https:// site instead of http://

In some browsers you will see a padlock and the address bar will be green when visiting the site. This shows that any communication will be encrypted. This should protect your usernames and passwords and any posts you make. Whether it will reduce the number of spam sign-ups remains to be seen.

You will not have to do anything different, the change should automatically redirect you to the encrypted version. Your browser does the rest of the work and communicates with the server using an encrypted key meaning nobody can intercept the communication and work out your username or passwords (or anything you post).

You may have to log-in afresh and re-save your cookies, but apart from that, all should be business as usual.

It should also prevent Chrome browser (and some others) warning you that the site is "Not Secure" (which could potentially put off bona fide members signing up).

Thanks DR

It should help us improve our Google ranking as I understand Google are knocking marks off for insecure sites.

A Zen SSL Certificate doesn't come cheap, but I feel it is an important step in ensuring the good security of all our members.

I don't envisage any problems, but you never know. (The site has gone bang before) [Shock.png]

Thank you to the member who made a donation of £12. I don't know which forum member that was. It is very much appreciated. [Hug.png]

I have switched the forum and main website over to https://

all links on the forum and website now point to htpps://

If you have any favourites/bookmarks saved. Delete them and add the new url in replace of it. [Like.png]

The forum and main website is now running securely through SSL encryption. Looks like the server fairies did it all in one night [Like.png]

Log-in (username and password transfer), cookie checks and site pages are all communicating over an encrypted connection. A redirect will automatically take you from a http:// link to a secure https:// (encrypted link).

All modern browsers should do this seamlessly for you without you having to do a thing. [Success.png]

You should see a closed padlock on your browser address bar to confirm this. If you find a page anywhere that doesn't have the padlock, let me know!
