I'd almost forgotten them from my childhood and the presenter who worked with them. [Big grin.png]

Well done that man. I am not the oldest member in the village.

And they were on a show with Wally Wyton.

I think we are talking Black and White days when TV was VHF 405 lines. Funny, one forgets we only watch in B&W. [Wink.png]

Wally got together with Fred & Ollie after his partnership with the rather creepy looking Pussycat Willum. I am certain that puppet had a real cat`s head. But is anyone old enough to recall Wally`s original incarnation in the Great Skiffle Disaster, in the group The Vipers?

Oh that takes me back, b&w tv on a 12 inch tube. The TV was massive compared to the tiny screen, yes I remember Wally Whyton and Willum not The Vipers though? TV's back then only had 2 then later 3 channels, oh what viewing choice we had back then.

Our TV screen was small and i remember dad used a massive magnifying glass you attached via clips and springs in front of the screen to make it bigger, but you had to sit directly in front of it or it became distorted, you spent ages moving the indoor aerial around for the best picture.

As said only two programmes to watch BBC and ITV but TV on a Saturday night was brilliant not like now, we loved cowboys back then, Wagon Train, The Rifleman, Cisco Kid, Boots and Saddles, Cheyenne, to name but a few and i loved the Army Game with excuse boots Alfie Bass. [Like.png]

OK, as we are having a trip down memory lane... Does anybody remember a little Italian mouse called Topo Gigio?

I first fell in love with him when he appeared on the Royal Variety Show (a big thing back then) and he appeared a few other times on some TV programmes in the 60's. He didn't hit it that big here, but he went down better in America and appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. However, he was (and still is) massive in his home country of Italy.

I've put together the few English speaking clips I can find on the inter web. Enjoy!

I think it was that he seemed so animated. When the BBC was still showing glove and string puppets, Topo Gigio seemed to have so much natural movement. His eyes and mouth, his fingers...
