It's been a while since I posted last but I always know where to come to for good advice.

I am after some advice on going to academy status and as I am a live in caretaker how this will affect me with my house etc.

I am a residential caretaker and when we changed over to a Multi Academy Trust all stayed the same as we were tuped over as they say, if you are a member of a union they should be present at the main all staff meetings when the proposals are put to everyone and concerns like yours can be raised. as for going over to a academy we seem to have less monies for anything, also the C.Os were given a carrot payrise to accept academy status, but support staff were not, also over the last 4 years any support staff lost have not been replaced!!!! I personally feel it is a total waste of time and have nothing to do with the other 4 school in the M.A.T good luck [Neutral.png]

Don't let the school tell you what your entitled to. Check it out and tell them.

Same as the skoolkeeper. It has been 6 years now and absolutely nothing has changed for me. Due to government cuts and falling budgets I have to fight to get any repairs done to the house but it used to be hard enough when we were under the LA.
We are currently looking at joining/forming a MAT, don't know how that will make a difference. This again is a government idea being forced onto the stand alone academies.
Nothing to worry about really, TUPE takes care of most things, ensure to attend all the consultation meetings and don't be afraid to speak up.
I for one was very dubious when we were going through the process and at the 1st vote I was the only governor to vote against it. As the process advanced and information became available I changed my mind. We went over in the very early days there is much more information out there about it now.

Nobody here are on huge salaries and being a Governor know that for a fact. We still have very little to play with and no new decoration for 2 years now. My R&M budgets have both halved over the last few years but as I said I know it is not because we are over staffed or excessive wage bills. All down to cuts which is exactly the same for LA schools.

As said in my original post, all C.Os were given a pay-rise and yes there are two additional salaries to pay= 50k + expenses for the C.E.O of the M.A.T and there P.A 20k so there is 70k+ from all 5 schools in the trust, now what could have been done with 70k!!! per year [Scared.png]

Hi all
I have read and been told of many nightmares going to academy.
Ta term time and drop in wage,
caretaker term time only.
Teachers getting pay cuts.
Loosing front staff and business managers.
If any one has experienced this be grateful to hear from you guys.
Hate the thought of loosing any of our staff [Shock.png]

The only thing that changed when we went to Academy status was the school sign. [Wink.png]

I don't want to scare you, but be mindful about the TUPE agreement. Our BM was moved to the MAT finance office, she didn't want to go, she's very stressed and finding the new role overwhelming. She was told her job at the school has been 'deleted', their words, and if she didn't take on the new role in the finance department, then there is no job for her and she will be made redundant.

Still waiting to see what happens to me yet. Not convinced that I'm in any way safe from the cutting board, no matter what they say.

Be careful out there guys,, it's a savage world we're living in today.
I'm a caretaker. I solve problems you don't know you have in many ways you can't understand. [JawDropped.png]
