Exams

Hi Folks

Question; Do you leave your exam desks set-up for the duration of your exams or do you have to put them up and take them down daily?
We have to do the latter and with 250+ per day it's a real pain.

We have a max. of two members of the site team on duty at any one time.

Re: Exams

When I was in secondary they were left up. Madness to do the setting up daily!

Re: Exams

Left set up, if we had to do that every day I think we would be off sick with bad backs -Wink.png-

Re: Exams

When i was in secondary (Primary now -Big grin.png- ) most halls were left setup except the sports hall which was taken down Friday afternoon and put back late Sunday evening ready for the morning as the hall was let out by the leisure centre over the weekend.

There would have been a mass walk out if anyone suggested daily.. -JawDropped.png-

Re: Exams

Ours were usually in the sports hall and left up for the duration but we were lucky in that we had 2 sports halls. We did however have to use our main hall for smaller exams of about 140 desks and on those occasions we had to put them up and down usually on the same day. The worst time was when parents evenings were on, 3pm finish for exams, move them out set up parents evening for 4pm start then at 8pm after that finished, take down parents evening stuff and set up for exams for the next day.

Re: Exams

Dailey, as there are lettings every evening in the sports hall. (They won't cancel)
Quite often only one member of staff to do the majority of the set-up/away.

Re: Exams

Ours are set up and left set up. 200 desk and chairs in sports hall and 140 desk and chairs in the main hall. Also now because during the summer we expanded each year group 11 classrooms are also set up.

We have just got a new Head teacher and he was shocked at how under staffed we are are. He now gets 6th form students to set up and crash the tables and chairs under supervision from us.

Light at the end of the very long tunnel and now i am not left with crippling back pain.

Re: Exams

When I worked in a college the tables were taken down for lettings, it was a right pain, 320 tables twice a day, good keep fit exercise though.
