Hi all
I live near the school in caretakers bungalow i left school at normal time as a contractor did not turn up.
No later than 5 minutes later as my wife was going to a course the contractor was knocking on my door as i was feeding our 7 week old baby .
He went on to tell me bm had sent him across to my home address!!!!!
i told him that i was unable to go back in and probably one of the office staff could show him around less than 5 min job.
To say i am fuming is not the word [Angry.png] .
reported it to my line manager and see the out come. What do you guys think??

If you were undertaking child care during an off duty period, I would say that your referral back to the school office was reasonable. If you were undertaking child care when you were supposed to be on site, it might be different. If you live on site, a certain degree of flexibility is implied. As you have responsibility for a child under 6 years of age, you are entitled to ask for flexible working arrangements. This should be looked on favourably within [ and here is the key phrase] the requirements of the service.

All I can say is, nobody should be knocking on your door if you have finished your shift, only emergencies acceptable [xmas_wink.gif]

I believe most teachers just don't think, they just say... A small word in ones ear should do...

Latest comment from bm the bungalow belongs to la so she can send them over!!!
I think this will turn to a grievance if it carries on.

Wow that comment was really meant to put you in your place I think. I would let your BM know that they're house still belongs to the mortgage company, so would they be happy for them to send people round they're house anytime they like.

Put a sign up stating at home, Caretaker OFF duty. When there is a problem with the bungalow inform the b.m that as it belongs to the l.a and all repairs are down to them. Only accept emergencies and that is why you live there, the caretakers accommodation at the school is for the better performance of your duties as a residential caretaker, you have the right to occupy the property so long as you continue to be employed as the residential caretaker, your actual working times will be set out in the schools caretaking roster, the roster can be subject to review re requirements. Tread carefully my friend as they will want you gone? are you a member of a Union? [xmas_wink.gif]
