Do you live on-site or have a tied house?

I know it is becoming increasingly rare, but... Do you live on-site or have a tied house? -Wink.png-

Re: Do you live on-site or have a tied house?

I live in a two bedroom on site next to the nursery and KS1 building. The only thing is we are moving down to a two form and who knows what is going to happen to the building once we leave it. High rise flats maybe!? I think I'll resign if that happens.

Re: Do you live on-site or have a tied house?

I know there are a lot of cons to this but I would love to live on site, I'm in london private renting a 2 bedroom at £1250 a month just rent so would snap up a job if it came with the house.

You must earn well to be able to afford that.
Up to about 3 years ago , LEA caretakers were paying £57 a month in Essex.
Pay reflects low earnings to low rents

Re: Do you live on-site or have a tied house?

I'm on 30k a year, so I do consider myself to be very lucky, I've been doing this job nearly 5 years now and it's my first caretaker job, but the cost of living in london is very high. I do find the wages a funny thing though in our role, as the same role and job title of mine in other parts of london or just outside are advertised anything between 18k-23k.

I am in a 3 bed school bungalow.
Rent in Surrey is 7% of wage. I pay £150/month or thereabouts.

We are now academy, but as my contract was TUPEd the rent stayed the same........For the time being at least!

Re: Do you live on-site or have a tied house?

2019,my salary was 18k, My rent for a 3 bedroom bungalow on site was £84 per month, with Suffolk county council. After 3 years being tupe over (2016) to academy status I lost my home and job, Great job, Great life, Great school, but new management were the pits!!!!! So early retirement for me and living in Spain now.

Re: Do you live on-site or have a tied house?

I'm near the 28K mark and I pay £37 a month which includes council tax and water. I realise how fortunate I am! The only trouble is management are failing the school so the job is difficult. On the plus side my partner is the big bread winner in the family and we practically save all of her income.

On site accommodation is as rare as rocking horse manure around here these days. The split site I worked on back in the 80s had three tied houses, one on each site. Times change.

Wow you are very lucky,I'm sure you are but I would not waste that opportunity and save and buy a house mortgage free and rent that out. where about's are you based. Let me know if you ever fancy quieting lol
