I am on site and pay just over £250 a month which is for the rent and water. Local commercial rent is very high so it is pretty good.

I'm in Essex and have a 3 bedroom semi just outside the school gates. I pay £84 a month and have done so for 18 years. They tried to put the rent up by £20 once and I politely told them that for them £20 was a spit in the ocean but for me it was a £20 pay cut and if they insisted on making me pay the extra I would be straight out the door. I never heard any more about it.
Don't argue with fools! They'll bring you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

I live off site. They used to have a Caretaker's flat on site years back.

I never thought that I would agree with this. I've lived on site for 12 years now and thought that I would retire here. But I have found that there is no turning off once I got home, I see the playground outside my window. The pros are only just outweighing the cons at the moment and my partner and I are using the house to save for another property.

Lived on site for 24 years almost. Roughly £40 a month for a 3 bedroom house.
mostly enjoy it. When I am on leave I try to get away otherwise I find myself just popping in for 5 minutes and end up staying for a large part of the day.

oh I'm in the south east ish too, Epsom vicinity, I feel your pain, me and my wife Are on quite good pay but we still can't get of the rent ladder so a job with a house would be perfect for us.

I have lived on site for 8 years and have been spoilt, what with the area and no neighbours. Will be a different situation as and if i ever retire!

That's how I felt until the school changed to a academy and the new management did not like me and then I lost my job and home.
