I have never had an I phone until school recently supplied me with one for work purposes. I have to say that i do Love it and want to buy a second hand unlocked one and get a sim only deal. Has anyone any experience of shops like CEX, are they good? is the stuff they sell good enough?

All comments appreciated

My only experience is with selling to them as they always seem to give the best prices.
So no complaints from a selling point of view.
I do think that some phones are overpriced though so be careful on how much you pay for the phone as some of them are dearer than buying brand new.
They can't fire me. Slaves have to be sold.

The thing to bear in mind with a second hand phone, is that usually people will trade them in when they get a new contract - usually 18 months to two years down the line.

With that in mind the battery life will probably not be as good.

New or secondhand, I have always resisted getting a smart phone. It would be too smart for me.

I've also never owned an iPhone but in the past bought second hand or refurbished as they call them mobiles from eBay. They've been ok apart from as mentioned above battery life not being very good, replacement batteries are quite cheap though but I don't think you can replace the battery in an iPhone.
Currently on contract I get a free phone upgrade every 2 years when I renew the contract but I'm now thinking a sim only deal would be better value?

Good luck in your search.

My old Samsung was scratched and getting battered so I decided to look for an upgrade. As my contract is for my home phone & Broadband and I get a free SIM card with 200 minutes (10 times more than I need), unlimited texts and 500Mb of data I usually buy my phone rather than get it on a monthly contact. Spotted a nearly new Samsung J series for £90 on eBay and with a choice of suppliers went with Argos as they are pretty reputable as I've never had any issues in the past with their stuff. Plus being Argos, they have a proper warranty service.

Very happy with my new phone, does everything I want, and more. Can't complain, get a screen protector though, can't recommend that enough!

I got an old Samsung from CEX,(Cranlington) never had a problem with it, and you get a 12month warranty so even of you do have a drama you're covered.

Sold it back to them, and got a lot more than I expected.

Thank you for your replies. Jay, I have been looking in that very shop in Cramlington and saw an Iphone 6 for £250 not sure if that is good value but it seemed reasonable and looked in good condition. Thanks again Guys [Like.png]

Magpie my friend. I am an apple snob and would recommend them to everyone. I have a 6s+ and love it. I bought this one for the 1st time ever and got a sim only deal which has worked brilliantly. Check the sim deal though as they can differ in price and what you get. O2 - £15 per month, unlimited calls and txts and a huge amount of data which I do use a lot of. Paid an awful lot more than £250 for my new phone
