I've never understood how "transparent" is a contranym.
It means the same thing however you use it?

transparent as in 'you cant see it' and transparent as in' it is obvious'
a) Transparent: Obvious
Eg, His lies were so transparent.
So you can see through his lies to the truth. i.e. the truth isn't obscured by the lies.
b) Transparent: Invisible
Eg, She brought a transparent water bottle to school every day.
So you can see through the bottle. i.e the contents of the bottle aren't obscured by the bottle.
So the meanings aren't really different in my opinion, the lies are transparent just as the bottle is transparent. It's obvious both are there, but you can't really see them....well you can see a bottle, but anyway....thats what I mean.

break it down however you want to the meaning is the same, and in this context the meaning is you can 'see' the lies, something transparent things are not usually.
I think is important not to expect polar opposites like up and down.

I was going to be sort of clever here with Flammable and Inflammable...... However I have just found out that Flammable is something you can set fire to, like a piece of wood. Whilst Inflammable is something that is capable of bursting into flames without the use of any ignition. Apparently the opposite of both of these is non-flammable!
Oh well... I have learned something today anyway! [--- (The seasonal word only permitted in December) ---_embarassed.gif]
