Rickmansworth School: Afternoon Caretaker required

Rickmansworth School is an 11-18 heavily oversubscribed co-educational partially (35%) selective academy with over 1400 students on roll, increasing to around 1575 students over the next five years. The School is in a very strong, stable financial position with over £4m recently spent on school expansion including a new Sixth-form centre, performing arts theatres and an Innovation & Design Centre.

We are seeking a permanent Afternoon School Caretaker to join our Premises Team. Hours are 27.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, scale H3 pt 5-6 £19,312-£19,698 plus fringe allowance £898 pro-rata (actual salary: £15,121 - £15,308 pa). Hours of work: 15:00 to 20:30 Monday to Friday.

The Afternoon Caretaker is a member of the team of Premises staff, responsible for maintaining the School premises in a state of good order. The aim is to ensure that the activities of students and staff can take place unimpeded in a clean, attractive and tidy environment. The Afternoon Caretaker has primary responsibility for ensuring that the site is secured at the end of the school day.

Closing date: 8am Thursday 14 October

I’m sorry, but that is not just an “ afternoon” caretaker.

You have put 0830pm, that is evening work.

How can you put 15.00 to 08.30, don't they proof read adverts?

And that is an evening job as well.

On their website it is worth noting that in term time the hours are 14:00-19:30 (the other hours are for school holidays).

Also, because it has come up recently on the forum, for anyone thinking of applying the notice period is 3 months.
