So I don't know everything

I was starting back up looking and dealing with my baseball cards and a thought came to me. I remember that back in the '90's the O's got a player (paid a hefty sum for him) from that team from N.Y.. We only had him for almost 2 years before he retired because of injuries. The thing is, he wanted to wear #8 because that was his number for so long. Well, Cal Ripken Jr. wore #8 for his entire career with the O's. And given Cal's world record breaking career, the team gave him #88 instead.
I thought about it almost all night and could not remember who it was. Well, a quick search this morning told me it was Albert Bell.
My mind must be slipping in my old age.

And it is a bit depressing when the memory fails & you end up Googling. I find that the best thing to do is to dismiss it from your mind & think about other things. The forgotten name [ and it usually is a name] pops back into my head unbidden

It happens to me i try and remember people from my childhood and teens into adult life and especially on my home town website, people know me but i struggle to know them and it takes a while for the penny to drop and so sad when you hear about the parting of people you knew back then. I actually looked through my cards to search. It helps when you have over 7,000 of them and on a data base.

And no jay, I don't think I'll be getting them at least not imediately. I will keep checking comc.com for them though.
