Tool Audit
Hello,
Any advise welcome.
We are currently carrying out an Audit of all tools on site.
However how would you all or do you all write up your Tool Audits?
As there is not much guidance available or templates.
Thank you.

Re: Tool Audit
Never done one here or even heard it’s a thing…?
I guess in larger secondary or special schools there may be a need to keep track or a log of tools?
Everything is locked away with access only available to me and my caretaker.
Sorry can’t be much help.

Re: Tool Audit
Group together tool types.
outdoor / garden tools
general maintenance hand tools
power tools
specialist tools (plumbing, electrical etc.)
decorating tools
you get the idea. we all have different tools so difficult to be specific..

Re: Tool Audit
Same here, I remember being pulled up at a H&S Audit once because we didn’t have a service contract for the maintenance of our battery and mains powered drills, plus the leaf blower. I pointed out that they were on our PAT list and tested every two years. Never heard anymore about it after that.

Re: Tool Audit
This must be the latest fad, as I’ve been asked to create a list of every tool (belonging to the school) that belong to me. Easiest way is probably as Vera said by groups. I’m in the process of creating it in spreadsheet form. Each group is getting photographed (multi items in each photo and numbered), then the spreadsheet for that group has item number, location, description, serial number (if applicable), cost (if known), date of purchase (if known). I’ve found from past personal experience that photos make things a heck of a lot easier, especially if the person doing the audit isn’t tool orientated/savvy.Just-Google-It wrote: ↑9th Nov 2023 at 9:41am Hello,

Re: Tool Audit
Can you attach an RFID tag to each tool as well please then scan them when they're taken out and put back. Thanks.Dunroamin wrote: ↑9th Nov 2023 at 1:07pm This must be the latest fad, as I’ve been asked to create a list of every tool (belonging to the school) that belong to me.
