Fun with Asbestos

You might think that plumbers and people in the building trade come into close contact with Asbestos, you may come into contact with Asbestos in your school. But that was nothing compared to Actors who had to use Theatrical Asbestos snow which was 100% industrial-grade Chrysotile asbestos. I wonder how many actors died of Asbestosis?

Re: Fun with Asbestos

When i first started in the job in 1980 we used a very good local company for heating repairs. The supervisor who came to check on the guys work was a really nice guy and we used to have a cuppa and put the world to rights. He told me that when he was an apprentice in the 50s they used to have what he called snowball fights with asbestos. Unfortunately in the mid 80s he sadly passed away from stomach cancer but way before then he knew he wouldn't get too old, used to say he was on borrowed time.

Re: Fun with Asbestos

I remember one of my cousins was an electrician, he told me they used to cut up sheets of the stuff when doing installations. He sadly passed away at 49 and his last year was horrible to watch…
