paint layers come off the plaster

What's the best way to deal with all the layers of paint coming off the plaster? I had to remove artwork and want to at least quickly paint over but will obviously only have a couple of layers against 10 or more. [fever.png]

I would sand the sharp edges smooth and do around 2 or more coats to blend it in as best as possable.

If the paint has come off back to bare plaster it’s best to use a fine light filler. This can the. Be rubbed back smoothly and painted over.
Just painting over with a few coats will still leave a glaring mark where the original paint come off. It’s quicker of course but really depends what finish look you are after [Thumb_up.png]

Lightweight, quick dry filler is your best bet coupled with a little mist coat x2 then a top coat.

Filler to level out the hole before painting.

Scrape as much of the loose paint off, sand the edges down then fill and sand. Quick drying filler. I would do that a couple of times and then a couple of coats of paint. If you have the paint already you may just get away without having to paint the whole of the wall.

Easifill (a british gysum product) is just fantastic for that sort of filling and smoothing. Our American friends call it drywall mud.
You can buy it ready mixed or in powder form (which lasts way longer if you take it out of the paper bag and keep it in an airtight tub).
