Newbie
Hello everyone. I've been a site manager at my junior school for just coming up to 12 months. I know they said it would take 6-12 months to get on top of it all; and to be fair...that's about right. By joining the forum now, I feel that hopefully I have a bit of on the ground knowledge. I've brought a good few transferable skills as I was a stoker in the RN. Thanks for having me onboard! Jon

Welcome aboard
When I started in this job back in the mid 70’s I was placed in a large grammar school as an assistant. In the large boiler house, there was an ex Royal Navy stoker, he looked after the boiler’s pumps and control panel.
He kept the place looking like a new pin dusting the controls and polishing the brass, he was a very proud man always wearing a shirt and tie under his boiler suit.
He chastised me once for spilling tea on his floor I was never sure if he was serious or joking but I had to mop it up.
We used to joke you could eat your dinner off the floor it was so clean.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it...
