Knee replacement operation.

Morning folks
Ow the joys of getting older I have a provisional date for my knee replacement that I have been chasing for ten years the 16th of May .
I'm told I will be off for six weeks but has anyone out there had it done?
How bad will I be after six weeks?
What about lifting and carrying?
Then there's steps .Eck...
I know I have my pre op chat on Friday that may answer these questions but it's always good to get an idea from our prospective..

Rigorously follow the regime they give you after the opp. (the Hospital that is, not work!)

Re: Knee replacement operation.

Well folks had the operation three weeks ago and it's all going as to be expected..
Loads of pain but they did say there would be ..
I live on my own on site it's odd to see the school ticking away while I exercise as best I can and watch afternoon TV.
My sick note is for six weeks but I can't see myself ready to go back to work to much lifting and carrying this time of year .
As far as I know they now have a security company opening and closing so that takes the pressure off me to rush back ..
I guess I will be going to occupational health before my return...
Thing is if a teacher is off they just get cover in , support staff gets there head scratching..
Don't get me wrong the school has been very good about the situation.
Weather that will be the case the the cost starts adding up..
But that's for the future..

Re: Knee replacement operation.

Sorry to hear you're having pain,
When you feel a little better opening up/ locking up might do you good.
Just take it at your pace; there is no need to rush to do anything until you feel like it. Daytime TV will make you want to go back quicker. [Shock.png]
Soon be summer break you could go back in then with no one about to upset your recovery.

Re: Knee replacement operation.

Take care and I hope you soon get back to normal. Maybe a phased return starting with a few hours a day might be a gentler way to get back into the routine of work again.

Re: Knee replacement operation.

Take care bro and everything will be Oakie Dokie.
Had mine done in '15 and although I was off for 6 weeks, I did let the BM (ONLY) call and e-mail me to talk and help them out.
Many moons later and All is still going great with no pain at all.
Just keep your head up and remember that pain right now is just weakness leaving the body.
