An Observation
Just an observation and an opinion take from it what you will no offence meant to any parties .
At the time of writing this i noticed that of the eight blogs on the forum five were by non subscribers some of which are long standing members. Now i am not saying that all users should have to cough up £1.25 of their hard earned every month but what i personally think is that, to ask a question of the users and reply to a question then you should be a subscriber as per a lot of other forums .
I seem to remember that this website and forum costs money to run and that is why we were asked to subscribe

Re: An Observation
Never realised it was an issue until the site got taken down a few months back, due to lack of funds/time etc etc. So I've paid up for they year, it's not like £15 is a lot. Worth every penny. ![[Like.png] [Like.png]](./images/smilies/Like.png)
Although if you want to attract members maybe some kind of grace period, 3 month trial from registration then cough up to remain a member.

Re: An Observation
There is a big difference between subscribing or just donating.
One will be expected to provide a service, the other just to provide a space to linger. This forum as far as I can remember has been virtually ad free, no popups or side bars full of distracting flashy videos etc, nothing to clog up the arteries of a live forum.
To be fair, paying a sub to get rid of all that is worth it and to keep the boards afloat as well. To me, paying what you think the site is worth is a good balance to keeping ads away and allowing the site to flourish, as a donation without making it a business venture, but anyway £15 is practically 3 pints worth so that's pretty cheap really all things considered.
But some people are principled in these things and its their right to defer a donation, and in that I'd be happy to drop the paid membership moniker, I'm not that bothered if people know it or not.

Re: An Observation
Everyone is different and I suppose entitled to pony up or not, I personally think as Jubbs mentioned its worth every penny to keep the website and forum ad free not only that admin mods and CT do a fantastic job keeping the spam away as well.
Just an idea maybe remove the post count from non subscribers, ok I'll get my coat![[Scared.png] [Scared.png]](./images/smilies/Scared.png)

Re: An Observation
I realised after using this great site for 17 years now that i had only paid £20 in all them years so i feel more than happy to pay my subs, but i would say especially new members should be made welcome and leave them to decide if to pay some subs and hopefully they will if they find the site helpful.
