Are you self-motivated and highly organised individual with a good range of practical skills? Would you like to work with a team who are committed to providing the best support and care to its children and the wider community? If so, then read on as this may be the perfect role for you…

As a result of an internal restructure, Drapers Mills Primary Academy has vacancies for both a full-time and a part time Caretaker with effect from January 2019.

As a Caretaker you will be responsible for the opening and closing of a large site, and for the maintenance and caretaking activities to ensure the safety, security and sound condition of the buildings, facilities and grounds of our wonderful school. You will be expected to have experience in building maintenance and skills in a number of disciplines. You will also need to be flexible, effective as part of a team, with good communication skills and a good understanding of the health and safety requirements of a large site.

You will be working under the direction of the School’s Business Manager and representatives from the Academy Trust.

Previous experience of working in a school would be advantageous but is not essential.

This is a year round contract for 37 hours per week (full time post) and 25 hours per week (part time). Working hours will be finalised on appointment but are likely to be 6.30am to 2.30pm (full time post) and 1pm to 6pm (part time post). There may also be a requirement to switch shifts as required and to work evenings and weekends on an occasional basis. Overtime hours will be paid at the appropriate rate.

The school is a bright, stimulating and safe haven for learning. Ofsted (March 2018)

For further information and to arrange for a tour of the school, please contact Mr Joe Manclark (Head Teacher) on 01843 223989 or email your details to

Our academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. An offer will be subject to satisfactory references and the necessary DBS checks.

Drapers Mills Primary Academy is part of the Kemnal Academies Trust, which is one of the largest multi-academy trusts in the south of England; with over 40 primary and secondary schools in the TKAT family.
Information about the school
