Blocked urinal toilet

Hi all hope you guys are well over this busy period. Just wanted some quick advice i have one of the boys urinal toilet blocked I have basic plumbing experience so I have cleared these in the past. I have emptied the bottom cup and pushed and scraped the old stagnant wee that cryizalises and put everything back to get I put bowling hot water down and whoosh it went down tried another half a pint of warm water and it has started to rise.

I plunged it at this point and still no luck all its doing is staying in the cup and filling back up.

Why isn't the water going down the u bend?

Would one shot and a strong acid get through the pipes

Thanks in advance

J

Re: Blocked urinal toilet

I was told that a couple of two litre bottles of Coke will dissolve urine crystals. Never tried it myself though.

Re: Blocked urinal toilet

Question...

Do your Urinals have an infra red flush timer such as CisterMiser?

If you are in a hard water area I suggest you remove these. You need a certain amount of water flushing the drain to reduce crystal build up.

I removed the flush timer and replaced with a check valve, reduce the flow to just above a trickle and the urinal will flush when the cistern gets full.

You can still regulate or reduce the amount of water used but the urinals and plumbing still get a rinse when the site is unoccupied.

Doing this has eliminated the need for call outs to get the pipework cored.

Hope this helps.

Re: Blocked urinal toilet

One shot after a flush . But remember it will only do the bottom section of the pipe .
I know it's a big no no , but years ago we would stick a load of caustic soda down on a Friday night after we had stripped the pipes down and cleared out as much as possible by hand.

Plumber told me once that boiling water will soften the uric scale, enough to make any other product more affective. Sometimes it will soften enough for a plunger to clear the debris.

Coke does well but one shot is better. [---- The word only permitted in December ---_santaclaus.gif]

Oops, that'l teach me not to read the whole post [---- The word only permitted in December ---_sad.gif]

Sounds like the uric scale has clogged the pipes further along especially if there's more down there. One shot as advised should do it this time. I'd use the plunger to clear as much water out of the ubend and round the corner before using the one shot, not sure if there's splashback using that stuff so be careful.

Re: Blocked urinal toilet

I'm trialing these at the moment.

Expensive but worth it to me if they save me having to deal with the scale. I've only used them twice so far - saving them for when a urinal is a problem.

It's too early to tell yet.

As to the coke, I've tried that a bit as well and again, too early to tell. I'm going to get really nerdy at some point and get some scale out of teh trap and see what it'll dissolve in.

I'd be interested in the results when you have them.
