I finally got my old Startales benchmark (Vista period) to run on Windows 10 1809. I had to download some old legacy Physx drivers to get it to work and tweak the program code to get it to run at 1920x1080 size.

Enjoy the Wondergirls...

http://www.knightsofskirbeck.co.uk Medieval re-enactment, not so much a hobby as a way of life!
I'm so old fashioned, outside work I'm either in the 15th or 19th centuries! (Medieval or steampunk, which is best?)

Well, I think the video is part of a benchmarking program to test the graphic capabilities of a PC setup.

How it was converted from a scripted program to a video/jpeg/mp4 or captured from it running on desktop requires some cleveryness.

FRAPS is the secret. It records the output of the graphics card in real-time to an uncompressed AVI file (30gig Massive size), I then used HD Video Factory Pro to convert it to a compressed MP4 (208mb) which I uploaded to Youtube.

Talking about compression, if you want to see something amazing (on any Windows PC)... This little 64k demo shows you what can be achieved in less size than a tiny photo or text file. (The compression rate was 300000/1, that's 1.9gb size down to 64k). It has stunning (for year 2000) 3d graphics and over 15 minutes of sound track. I don't think this has ever been beaten.

Just unzip the file, click on the fr08.exe in the folder and enjoy the show. It doesn't install anything, it runs directly from the .exe file and is safe. Go on folks, give it a try if you have never seen it. Let me know what you think...
