Re: Dogs on site

Hi,I am a live-in caretaker and I don't own a dog, although my predecessor kept a German Shepherd for years without any issues. I know one caretaker who has a dog which doubles as the school therapy pet. I also know someone who was offered a live-in caretaker role but he ended up turning it down because they wouldn't allow him to bring his dog as there were a lot of complaints about the previous guy's dog (barking all night and keeping the neighbours up mostly). So I think it depends on the school or the Local Authority rules. Good luck with the book -Like.png-

Re: Dogs on site

Although now retired I was a caretaker for 36 years in the same school, I lived onsite and had 2 German Shepherd dogs both from pups over a 20-year period. As pups they both visited the school nursery with the Teachers consent to get used to the children. I had no issues from the school in fact the dogs although friendly family dogs both were looked upon as school guard dogs.

Re: Dogs on site

Live on site & have had 3 dogs. Heads have always approved them. For one head she would have a day where staff would bring their pets in for children to see.

I’m a live in Caretaker, and I have a big white German Shepherd. He asks the trespassers to leave before I do.

Re: Dogs on site

Re: Dogs on site

I live on site, I also have 3 dogs, they're technically not allowed in school but I do walk them on the school field occasionally in the evening to chase the geese off, they also alert me to noise outside and are far more persuasive at getting people to leave if they shouldn't be here.

Be interesting to read the book once published, so do keep us in mind when the book comes out, and thank you for putting your caretaker in a good light and not the old git in a back room who is the lowest of the lowest. -Like.png-

I also sing badly and do the dad dance at children’s parties which entertains the children and adults no end -Big grin.png-
