Help with an old photograph please

Hi all,
While packing to move, I found an old picture of my basic training Army platoon. One side has stuck to the glass over the past 40 years.
The glass is cracked so how can I get this thing unstuck without tearing the photo? It has signatures from the boys when we graduated to become real soldiers and I'd like to keep them so soaking is not an option.
Any advice to help preserve this piece of my history would be a God send.
Many thanks in advance.

Personally I’d take it to a professional.

I agree with Jay. It won't be cheap, but what price can you put on memories like that. A specialist art shop/restorer should be able to advise you. They may also suggest a suitable frame to prevent it happening again in another 40 years.

You could ask a picture framer to take it as is cracked glass and all and bond it to another piece of glass in a new frame.
This would case no damage and personally I prefer old things to show the age and patina, wort's and all.

If you really must have it back to as good as possible then as stated a restoration expert is probably your only hope.

Good luck with the move. [Thumb_up.png]

I would also take it to a professional, memories like that can not be replaced.
Good luck with the outcome [Success.png]

The Repair Shop on BBC, if they can`t nobody can. but then again, no guarantee they will take it on, write to the program and express your feelings about the photograph.

Best advice.
I had an old picture of Grandad (but not stuck to glass) I scanned it as a jpeg and spent ages on photoshop removing all of the imperfections, looks absolutely brilliant now. This was ages ago on old photoshop I believe new versions can do amazing things, other programs are available [Wink.png]
