Hi, I am new to this page, can anybody in the UK recommend a union to be in thank you

There are many unions you could join but it would be best to join one that is either used by others in your school or setting or active locally in your area.

We have 2 fairly active unions in our area of South London.
GMB and Unison

Welcome aboard. You'll find lots of help here. As for unions, have a chat with other support staff and find out which union is most active and supportive in your school. Much also depends on how good the reps are in your area.

In my school, GMB were the best and I even became a rep myself. Even the Unison rep complained she never got support from the local teams, so GMB it was. But in other areas you may find the opposite.

The main ones are GMB, Unite and Unison but as Vera explained, it is best to find out who is the most popular in your area. I was in Unison but they weren't good where i was so changed to GMB and always found them very helpful. Welcome aboard
