Yes the Ford Capri, the British Mustang that first graced our roads in 1969 is returning. And with me being a confirmed petrol head it's introduction back then made me a little hot under the collar, so I had to have one.
Although the new makeover will not please some people:
I loved my 1977 mk2 Capri, sadly only a 1.6 GL and not the 2.8i because of its prohibitive insurance cost. I watched The Professionals and Minder on tv and was a confirmed medallion man complete with flares wide collar shirts and the smell of Brut. Inevitably marriage a family and dog came along so I needed to rethink my car choice to an Estate.
Did you ever own or lust after a Capri?
EDIT: By Admin, links working now
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it...
If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there.
One of my mates lost the back end of his Capri on a bend whilst being chased by our boys in blue in a 2.8. When he asked how he had managed to hold it together going round the bend he kindly showed him the spare wheel well that was now full of concrete.
You were only meant to dust the flipping floors off
Never really liked the Capri.
About 15 years ago a mate of mine restored a 2.8i with limited slip diff in it and that was fun and more controllable, it was quick though.
i'm going to need a bigger bucket!

I had a m8 who's dad worked abroad quite a lot and earned very good money, he bought him a brand new Capri on one home visit, boy was we all envious of him especialy me driving around in a tank of a Austin Cambridge A60 saloon car.
Sigillum Militum Xpisti (The Seal of the Soldier of Christ)
One of my neighbours has got a 1975 model in gold with a vinyl roof sat out the front of his house (his first car) slowly rotting away!
Shame, as he did get it back on the road ten odd years ago.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory!
Alas, it's going to be nothing like the iconic original. The new Capri is going to be an SUV similar to the Explorer which will sit on top of the Volkswagen MEB architecture according to Auto Express.

This in a nutshell is what's wrong with the current car manufacturers. They seem to think that slapping an old name on a new box SUV (if that's the correct term for the overblown bloated people carriers that are produced now) is somehow going to make everyone buy it.

For example
The Mini
Fiat 500
Both now huge in comparison to the cars they take their name from.
