CITV closedown
I don't know how many kids still watch CITV, not many according to ITV. So CITV will close down on Friday 1st September. Many of the CITV programmes will move to ITVX. ITV2 will air a four hour block of children’s programmes daily at 05:00 - 09:00. But most kids will be getting ready or travelling to school at that, so pretty pointless.

It was never as good as Watch with Mother, nothing beats Andy Pandy, The Woodentops and Tales along the Riverbank. I religiously watched these with my Mother from around 1962, lovely memories

Who remembers Pogles' Wood? I found that scary as a child.

This is my first memory of children’s TV, Watch with Mother and Bill and Ben the flowerpot men. Yes I'm old...
I remember a big TV cabinet with a small almost round screen

Lets not forget Rag, Tag and Bobtail, which was on at the time of Andy Pandy and the others mentioned. I obtained some years ago, a video (yes video) 0f archives of Rag, Tag and Bobtail, the Wooden Tops and Bill and Ben the flower Pot Men and sat one of my granddaughters down to watch it at the age of 4 (she is now 19) After sitting and watching it quietly for 30 minutes, I asked her what she thought about it, which she replied " It was rubbish Granddad" Oh well I thought at the time, back to the drawing board.
Get out there and do it to them, before they do it to you

There was another programme that i loved but have to admit being a little old for it when it came out, that was Mr Benn. I bought the dvd with every episode some years ago and happily enjoyed watching it again in my 50s

Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grub. Come on what fire station did they work from.
Watch with mother was a great TV experience for us kids in those days.
The biggest spottiest dog you ever did see.
Great times sitting with my late mum watching them on the box in the corner.

Re: CITV closedown
I’m really not sure how we can be comparing “Watch with mother” and CITV and saying WtM was much better…..?? It’s like saying a Morris Minor is far superior to a Bugatti Veyron.
Times change, and we really should look at now and remember what was with fondness, not direct comparison.
As a parent of a 6 YO the loss of CITV is most definitely not an issue. With childrens TV almost on tap from online streaming and morning Milkshake and YouTube, there is always something to watch when needed.
I remember with great fondness what I watched growing up in the 80’s and have tried to get my son to watch what I did via YouTube only to see his face screw up. I’m 100% positive this would be the same if you showed you kids / grandkids what you watched in the 60’s/70’s.
