Are you claiming anything

we are planning on buying a house to work on for the next year or so and packing in school life both had enough of 6am get ups. My pension will not be enough to live on so myself and the wife will want to work one maybe two days a week just to top it up. we are both a few years from full pension at the mo and don't want to look at the benefit system. but thinking more of free glasses dentist that sort of thing we will be in limbo not working but not fully retired. just not sure any advice from the guys that have already jumped ship. Not jumped ship yet but past 60 free eye test, free prescriptions, have to wait for 66 for bus pass [Angry.png]
For free dental work you need to be on benefits.

As mentioned, eye tests are free as are prescriptions, travel pass is also free but everything else if you are not on benefits costs… [zip.png]

Bus pass (which mrs.t and I love as we go into Swansea regularly), perscriptions, eye test and glasses.
That's all I know so far.

Re: Are you claiming anything

always thought you had to be claiming something for a free prescription how dose that work. I will only be 57 the wife 58 so long way from state pension. Working a couple of days will give us enough to manage till state kicks no more full time. roll on 2024

As far as I know free prescriptions kick in when you are over 60, I could be wrong though.
Good luck with your plans [Like.png]

Correct, saved me a few quid [Thumb_up.png] claim everything you can, you worked for it.
It might be true that todays working generation is paying the pensions of the retired but the retired did the same thing!

Re: Are you claiming anything

Well things have changed a bit since this post house now bought ready to move in and taking into account school holidays and weekends. I have about 50 working days to go but I am not counting the days just the seconds [Big grin.png] .just need final pension statement to see how poor we will be give school 4 week notice then gone.sit on a beach for a while and look for a pt job without the silly hours. nervous but bring it on we have enough money saved to not have to worry for a few years
