Re: Sticking "P" key

Depends what is causing it to stick. If it is something like biscuit crumbs, running the vacuum cleaner hose over the 'P' might suck them out. Don't have the vac on too fast.

If it is like dried gravy/coffee you could place a hot damp dishcloth (not too wet) over the keys to try to soften the debris. You need to create some condensation. Then agitate the key to see if it will unstick it.

It depends what type of keyboard your laptop has. Some cheap ones have a board with lots of sprung pads that they keys press on to make them work. More likely, the sprung metal has weakened causing the letters not to work. These can be replaced but might cost a bit. If you are brave, you can sometimes lift the keys off the board and give the board a clean with some alcohol spirit. But if any of the keys fall out of the top tray, it can be a nightmare to put them all back in the correct place.

Some keyboards have individually sprung and fixed keys. These are less likely to wear out. A specialist laptop repairer maybe able to replace just the letter 'P' for less cost than the full board type.

You can find some ideas on this site. https://punchng.com/how-to-fix-a-jammed-keyboard-key/

I thought this was going to be a “Carry On” joke where you need to go for a P [Blush.png]

I’ve used one of those aerosol air dusters on a keyboard before although not a laptop keyboard, it’s surprising the amount of debris that comes out.

Turn it upside down and gently tap it on the desk with the keys facing downward, you would be surprised how much will fall out.

Take a photo of the keyboard first if you're going to do that. [fever.png]

Keyboards are really not too expensive.
To have one repaired would cost way more than a replacement unless it's some super weird ergo keyboard with ball pointer built in..

Re: Sticking "P" key

I had decided to take it to the shop but as i looked at it i though i would just try something and lift the "P" key and use a spectacle and lens wipe and just fold it in half and ease it under the edges of the "P" and use a pair of tweezers just to ease it around the edges of the "P" and that appeared to work so very pppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp pleased with that, thanks for all the input much appreciated.
