Re: Stress

What are 5 signs of work related stress?

A change in the way someone thinks or feels can also be a sign of stress, for example:
mood swings.
being withdrawn.
loss of motivation, commitment and confidence.
increased emotional reactions – being more tearful, sensitive or aggressive.

Re: Stress

Seek medical advice..

It's difficult to quantify because it affects everyone differently.

Some indicators could be a lowered immune system, sleepless nights, anxiety attacks, or just feeling "fidgety and restless" or the complete opposite of lethargy and tiredness.

If you are not sure the go see a GP

Re: Stress

Been there, done that.

If you’re asking I’d say the probability is quite high that you’ve got it.

Speak to your Dr soon as possible.

Re: Stress

See your doctor like others suggest, if you have the symptoms listed.

Specifically, work-related stress? How do you feel about going into work and do you get anxious over the weekend, as Monday approaches?

Re: Stress

I suffer from work related stress/anxiety, like a lot of people on here??, and if you are suffering see your doctor asap. You will probably find them very supportive and I suggest taking a period of time off work how long depends on how you feel down the road. Also try taking to "a third party" about what your going through, believe me it does help.
Remember ITS OK TO BE NOT OK If you are suffering good luck.

Agree with Jay went all through my life and situations involving stress but nothing compares to school stress syndrome as it is every day, all day and all the time with no break from it, seen lots of teaching staff crying there eyes out and a lot of female staff crying over my shoulder and just pour their heart out, i sit them down make them a nice cuppa, friendly chat and a laugh escort them to their car and wave them off with a big smile but inside i felt the same as they did. Re: Stress

Like the others have said please speak to your doctor straight away. My doctor was great with me and signed me off straight away and phoned me every Friday to see how I was and to have a chat. It's a horrible feeling stress/ anxiety but I can vouch that it will go away. I was off for about 8 weeks in the end but and went back to work but realised it was that particular job that was causing me stress, I eventually changed jobs and it was great. I know its not everyone thing but I started to meditate. I use a App on my phone called 'Headspace'. I have had it for about 3 years now and didn't realise that until the first years subscription was up that you can get it for free if you work in schools in the UK. When I have a morning break I put my phone on and listen to it. It something I thought I would never enjoy and its help with all sorts of stuff.

Re: Stress

In my case the worst thing was not being able to sleep because i couldn't get thoughts of school out of my head, i would be thinking all the time about jobs i had to do and the pressure being put on me by the higher ups. Headaches, panic attacks, exhaustion, being irritable, just a feeling that even with simple things i felt overwhelmed. I collapsed at work one day due to exhaustion and was found by one of the teachers on the floor of the corridor, not unconscious just didn't have a clue what happened. If you are asking the question then i think you know that something is up. Make an appointment to see your Dr even a phone appointment because that's how i did it at first then a physical appointment followed. Please do not carry on thinking you can handle it because it takes very little to tip you over the edge into a very dark place that you don't want to be in. Your health should always come first, good luck
You are only as young as your knees let you feel.
