Toilet door lock

EYFS have broken a toilet door lock, these are the ones https://www.doorfit.co.uk/architectural ... cator-bolt

My head teacher is saying why do they need locks surely they can just be magnetic catches, i disagree with this but she wants to know why they need them?

Re: Toilet door lock

I can actually see your Head teachers Point of View here.

I dont know if there is some sort of legislation surrounding it, but from a practical POV i see some sense in having magnets- specifically in the EYFS setting where they all leave the doors open anyway and there are no rules on boy/girl seperate changing
Opinions are like Derry-airs, everyone has one, but some stink and are full of the brown stuff [Success.png]

Re: Toilet door lock

I'm totally with your HT on this , no legislation that I know of that prescribes that they have to have locks on the doors in EYFS and as has been said they rarely shut them anyway.

Re: Toilet door lock

You can get those locks direct from venesta
Still expensive but half the cost of your web site

Re: Toilet door lock

Yes I agree magnetic locks would be a good idea. The cost of vanesta stuff is an absolute joke. You could probably use a couple of magnetic catches that are used on cupboard doors. Nice and cheap to replace if they break.

Re: Toilet door lock

We actually have shower curtains on ours instead of doors, decision by the EYFS lead 10 years ago when it was built. Seems to actually work well.

Re: Toilet door lock

We have the same locks and as stated previously direct they are hale the price. When I arrived 5 years ago I discovered that the doors down in EYFS originally had the locks installed but had since been removed because they were forever locking themselves in. Magnetic locks seem a great idea as at that age different genders are allowed to mix.

Jezz how much.
I remember them being £20:00.
N=R* x Fp x Ne x Fl x Fi x Fc x (1+Nr) x Fm x L
(If you and I were in the staffroom, it would be the only even prime number.)

Come the revolution, I won't be able to afford the petrol to get there.
