We just use radios, its simpler and those with radios are responsible for their small group of staff.

Bonus is we have radios for general use too.

Bodet do very customisable systems but not cheap.

We just used our fire alarm firm, they changed the tone and length of the alarm when activated.. seems to just about do the job once staff are trained on the difference.

We had a key switch wired into the class change bell system, that when activated, makes the bells ring continuously unlike the class change signal which is intermittent. With the fire alarm being electronic sirens, there is also a very distinct difference between the two signals.

ADT fitted the one i have inherited.

Although it's in the wrong place! It's in the main reception area, so whoever has to press it will be going into the danger!

Currently in the process of having it re-located.

Can you get them to add an extra location rather than just move it?

For mine, it can be activated from six different locations.

We used Admiral Alarms for our. They added the sounders to the existing intruder alarm.
They are based in surrey

[Big grin.png] [Big grin.png] [Big grin.png] that who we have gotten our quote from and they have quoted us pretty much exactly what you have described, only difference is that they are proposing to install a second system exactly the same as our intruder system rathen than modify our exisiting system. this is the part that doesnt sit well with me. i feel they are selling us something we already have.... how is that system working out for you? is it monitored? does it have room for addons (extra panic buttons etc?) are you able to sound it for lockdown drills etc without it triggering a response from emergency services?

The sounders were connected to the existing system. TEXECOM PREMIER.
at the moment, it is activated by a yellow resettable break glass call point in reception. this will be changed over to panic buttons over half term.
It is not monitored so does not alert the police or call centre. We can set it off for drill, and for regular monthly testing.

We are also in Surrey, so happy to show you how it works if you fancy popping over.

Re: Lockdown system installers Reccomendations

We have a tannoy lockdown alert system at our school. I personally have never heard it tested (I was off when it was initially done apparently). We also have a Net2 system for entry to our buildings. We are slowly (and it is slowly) changing our keypad entry systems form Bell Systems Keypads to Paxton Keypads. This not only allows for codes to be changed via a PC but can be setup I believe to have two users programmed that can lock all doors and unlock all doors. This can be done apparently by having the software on a mobile phone (in fact I'm sure it was someone on here that I heard it from). Once all our keypads are done then hopefully they will be able to lock all the doors in the even of an incident. It's something I have been bringing up periodically for years but it's not my decision.
